IWR collects furniture and household items for up to 10 newly arriving families each year as part of our Welcome Home program. These donations are only collected when we have a new family confirmed to arrive in under a month.
The rest of the year you can support Ithaca Welcomes Refugees by DONATING ITEMS to the following groups and businesses.
Donations or consignments to Mama Goose and Mimi’s Attic are transformed into in-store credit, we distribute this store credit to refugees partnered with IWR to purchase their own household, family, and personal items.
Donations of pre-loved jewelry are collected and then sold for one of our largest annual fundraisers hosted each fall. Scroll down for details.

Volunteers Debbie & Yvonne have been organizing pre-loved jewelry sales to benefit Ithaca Welcomes Refugees for over 10 years!
All the jewelry sold at the sale is gently used and donated by people like you. EVERYONE has jewelry, old coins, school rings, broken jewelry or single earrings they don’t wear anymore or inherited and never used! In light of the new administration, Ithaca Welcomes Refugees is in need of our support more than ever! The sale generally happens in autumn, and jewelry donations are collected throughout the year. 100% of proceeds raised support Ithaca Welcomes Refugees.

Furniture & Household Items - Consign to Mimi's Attic
Mimi’s Attic accepts donations and items on consignment, during your intake appointment, tell them you would like your credit to go to Ithaca Welcomes Refugees account.
WALK-INS – 10:00am – 10:45am on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays. Walk-ins are limited to 1 piece of pre-assembled furniture, or 1 small box of items, or 5 articles of clothing.
APPOINTMENTS (PREFERRED) For any other times or larger quantities of items, appointments are required. To schedule an appointment, please call (607) 882-9039, or email photos of your items.
Our in-store credit this then distributed to our refugee partners to purchase needed home items.
Mimi’s Attic accepts different types of items throughout the year, broadly they accept: Furniture, Outdoor Furniture, Home Decor, Home Appliances, Kitchen items, Children’s Furniture.
Baby & Children's Clothes & Supplies - Consign to Mama Goose/Jillians Drawers
Mama Goose & Jillian’s Drawers accepts gently used baby/children’s clothes and baby gear for their store on West Clinton St.
During your donation drop-off you can request them to add any store credit to IWR’s account. IWR then distributes in-store credit to our families with young children so they can purchase necessary items from the store.
In general, Mama Goose buys items Tuesday – Saturday, with the exception of the last 7 days of each month. They do not buy on Sundays and Mondays, and occasionally pause accepting new items. Check their website for current details, and preferred items.
